Charleston: Day 4

On our last day in Charleston we got out to the pool bright and early (you don't sleep in on vacations when kids are involved!). They had a really cool over-sized beach chair that was the perfect prop for a photo opp. After the pool we met up with some of Laura's relatives and toured Fort Moultrie (finally, we got some history in!). We had a great time on our vacation and were worn out when we got home. Hope everyone enjoyed the pictures!

Stephen acting like typical Stephen....notice my expression :)

A semi-good family shot.

This picture was taken for Camp! My zoom lens isn't very good, but I thought the picture turned out well.

Charleston: Day 3

Our third day in Charleston started off with Nick and Stephen at the golf course, so Laura and I took the opportunity to have a mini photo shoot on the beach with the girls. We got some really cute shots, so of course I was happy! After we got back we headed out to the pool and waited for the guys to get home. That afternoon was when the adventure really started.....Ashlyn took a tumble down 7 or 8 steps and we ended up in the ER. She had a deep cut on her forehead, but luckily it didn't require stitches.....only glue! She was a real trooper and forgot about the pain when the nurses promised her that she could have some popcorn when she was done!

It didn't take long to get this picture of Camille....she's very photogenic!

Ashlyn (before the accident!)

I love her sweet smile :)

Laura and Camille after the photo shoot was done

Back at the pool Hannah has confiscated my cell phone!

Ashlyn had been napping in the lounge chair, so she looks a little groggy. We got their hats for them while we were down there.....because they are our little "Carolina Girls"

This is Ashlyn after her fall....showing off her scar!

A closeup of the cut....no stitches required!

Hannah and Ashlyn enjoyed a popsicle after the excitement of the afternoon....Popsicles make everything better!

Charleston: Day 2

Day two in Charleston started with a drive down to Patriots Point to catch a boat and head to Fort Sumter. Our friends Nick and Laura (and their cute baby Camille!) drove down from Raleigh the night before, so we all piled in our van to get some Charleston history. After we loaded onto the boat we waited about five minutes and then they announced over the speakers that the water was too rough for us to dock at Fort Sumter so we all had to get off. :( So we ended up going back to the condo and then headed out to the beach that afternoon. So much for getting some culture while we were on vacation!

The Yorktown from a distance

Charleston's beautiful Cooper River Bridge. The girls thought it was amazing!

Our one picture during our short time on the boat. Camille is a sweetie!

A closeup of the Yorktown.

Back at the condo, Nick gives his baby girl a kiss.

And Stephen and Hannah snuggle on the front porch.

This is what the waves looked like down at the beach....Hurricane Earl was creating some big under toes that weren't much fun to swim in. Stephen and Nick got in for about 10 minutes and then decided it wasn't worth the beating!

I think this is Ashlyn warning us that the waves were going to come and get our towels wet.

Hannah trying to clean the sand off her feet....it was a futile effort.

Now Hannah is telling the seagulls to "Go away!". Notice her finger is pointed at them.

Very proud of her ability to shoo the birds away.

Yes, Ashlyn is under the towel. She obviously LOVED the beach!

Hannah decided that these little pools of water were a lot of fun to splash around in.

Going full force into the water!

This is the view of the boardwalk on the resort before you get to the pools and beach.

Ashlyn teaching us how to do the Robot. :)

Stephen and Camille....have I said that she is sweet??

Charleston: Day 1

On the Wednesday before Labor Day we headed down to Charleston for one last summer vacation. We stayed at a condo that our friends have and had a wonderful time. These are some pictures from our first day down there. We got there in the afternoon, so just had time to go out and eat some dinner and then take the girls out to the beach on Sullivan's Island so they could get their feet in the Atlantic Ocean!

The view from the front porch of the condo

This is the restaurant that we happened upon when we headed out to Sullivan's Island. The food was delicious and we got to sit outside which was nice because the girls were a little rambunctious after sitting in the car all day!

Sweet Hannah and Ashlyn

She's a cheeser!

I think this is after Hannah had just tasted a lemon :)

The path to the ocean!

This was Hannah's very first time to be at any beach and only Ashlyn's second time. You'd think we lived further away from the ocean than three hours!

They weren't quite sure what to think of it at first.

Then Hannah decided that playing in the sand would be fun...

Stephen :)

Stephen was helping wash Ashlyn's feet off....she was getting so dizzy from the waves going in and out!

Hannah wouldn't let go of Stephen when she was in the water because she was too scared that she would fall!

Little Ashlyn walking back to the car after our first adventure in the sand. It was a good first day and the girls were both ready to head to bed!
